Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges conventional expectations, the game developer has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized release, "A strange confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations resonate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.
The mission focuses on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with numerous objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This release also adds the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
