Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
