The winter transfer market proves to be a time of feverish rumour and potential major transfers. A number of notable stars find themselves linked with moves out of their current clubs. We examine a selection of the major names who could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the player available, it appears a major move is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract with a sizeable buy-out clause applicable for a brief window in early January. Latest reports suggest Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other options, potentially opening the door for clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late bid.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has impress for Crystal Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his contract set to run out in the summer, this represents the London club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of top sides, including Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a winter exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Welsh winger has had starting minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this term. Despite being the side's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun only a handful of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the North London outfit is open to a transfer for the right price, thought to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an inquiry.

R. Neves

This Portugal playmaker could be poised for a return to the Premier League after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, while his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a potential bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran German shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona following new manager Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a January exit seems increasingly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a potential destination, but that move now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling chances of being in the England World Cup. But, securing a transfer presents major challenges. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his reported huge weekly wages render any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

This energetic midfielder drew widespread interest in the off-season but stayed at Atlético Madrid. With few starts in Spain this term, he may be keen to secure more minutes ahead of the tournament. Manchester United have been heavily connected, and a return to Selhurst Park, a club he excelled on loan, remains a possibility, though wage constraints could be a problem.

H. Elliott

Although excelling and winning player of the tournament at the Under-21 European Championship in the summer, the young midfielder has found it tough for game time during his loan spell at Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the temporary transfer won't become permanent. Because of specific rules regarding playing for multiple teams in a campaign, a move back to his parent club before next summer seems to be the sole available solution.

K. Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkish forward has been in fine form for the Italian giants this term. With his current contract nearing its end, a host of English sides – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a battle to retain one of the continent's brightest prospects.

Kees Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. This teenager is heavily expected to make a major move in January. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at approximately £22 million.
