Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
